Our mission of ‘keeping it fair’ is underpinned by values of affordability, simplicity, efficiency, and environmental friendliness. With a focus on providing exceptional customer service, and reducing energy expenses, Alinta Energy continues to grow.
We need an experienced People and Culture Advisor to join our expanding Melbourne Southbank office. In this highly autonomous role, you will use your technical and professional skills/knowledge to assist and guide line managers and work on a broad range of People and Culture policies, programs and practices.
Your primary focus will be supporting our power stations in Queensland, Victoria and New Zealand and implementing plans and initiatives to improve staff engagement throughout our national Merchant Energy business.
You will also be a first point of contact for team leaders and managers from other business units in our Melbourne office and assist with interviews, disciplinary procedures and administration of employee changes for transfers, promotions and terminations. As part of a wider People and Culture team, you will report to the Strategic Business Partner, Merchant Energy based in Perth and liaise with colleagues from our corporate office in Sydney.
What we’re looking for:
You are a qualified HR generalist and well-seasoned professional who handles most day-to-day problems independently. You recognise the potential for significant precedents and refer these issues to others. Experience servicing a business area with 100+ employees is essential, preferably in a heavy industry such as power generation, engineering, construction or manufacturing.
You have experience in recruitment and selection, performance management, employee relations and business partnering. You will need to engage in proactive behaviour, seize opportunities and actively seek solutions to problems. Being aware of the overt needs and requirements of your internal customers will be the key success. You will have the ability to work in a standalone, national focused role and will enjoy working independently.
What’s in it for you?
