Alinta Energy is one of Australia’s biggest energy retailers, generators and developers with over 1.1 million customers. Australia’s energy system is undergoing the biggest transformation in its history and we’re right there with it. We’re investing in and developing large-scale renewables and storage projects as part of our ongoing effort to provide our customers with reliable, affordable and sustainable energy.
We understand that flexibility matters when considering your next role. Let us know your requirements, and we’ll carefully consider how we might accommodate them.
Ready to make a real impact?
This is a pivotal role within Alinta Energy’s Power Development team, responsible for shaping investment decisions across a growing portfolio of renewable, storage and gas generation projects. Sitting within the Power Development team, this role leads the commercial and financial evaluation of major capital investments, owning the investment case from early development through to financial investment decision. It is a hands‑on, technically focused leadership role — ideal for a senior investment professional who enjoys being close to the modelling while guiding high‑quality decision‑making and developing analytical capability within a lean, high‑performing team.
Why you’ll love working here
At Alinta Energy, we’re taking real action to deliver reliable and sustainable energy for Australia — and that practical approach runs through everything we do. You’ll get clear direction, genuine flexibility, and the support you need to grow, all while working on projects that make a lasting difference. We’re big enough to create impact, but small enough that your ideas and effort will always be seen.
There are plenty of other great benefits of working for Alinta Energy, including flexible working, energy discounts, an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), a paid volunteer day each year, fully stocked kitchens, and lots more.
What you'll do
- Lead end‑to‑end commercial and financial appraisal of development projects, including feasibility assessments, business cases and investment recommendations
- Build, review and challenge complex financial models (NPV, IRR, sensitivities, scenario analysis, project finance and debt sculpting), remaining hands‑on with key assumptions and outputs
- Apply company assurance standards and lead due diligence processes for new development and acquisition opportunities
- Work closely with Treasury to develop and assess project funding strategies, including debt and equity structures, capital structure and financial risk considerations
- Lead and develop the Investment Analyst, setting high analytical standards and building strong modelling and commercial capability across the team
Your experience
- 6–10 years’ experience in investment banking, Big 4 corporate finance/modelling, project finance, or corporate development within an ASX‑listed or infrastructure‑focused organisation
- Advanced financial modelling capability, including complex project finance and valuation models, with strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Experience supporting or leading project financing, credit analysis, debt sizing and capital structure evaluation
- Demonstrated leadership capability, with experience coaching, mentoring or managing analysts and a genuine interest in developing others
- Strong commercial judgement and stakeholder influence, with the ability to translate complex analysis into clear, well‑reasoned recommendations for senior leaders
Please note this role requires full working rights within Australia.
