About the role:

Reporting to the Manager, Portfolio Strategy & Analytics, you will collaborate closely with key stakeholders to identify business requirements and develop insightful, business-driven models aimed at achieving and surpassing business unit financial targets. Your contributions will be pivotal in providing valuable insights into portfolio performance, assessing outcomes of strategic plans, and recommending strategies to increase portfolio value, all backed by a profound understanding of both the portfolio and the energy markets it operates within. Additionally, you'll be responsible for staying abreast of opportunities in current and future energy market conditions.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Develop the Financial Planning for the business unit, ensuring adherence to corporate timelines in managing and controlling all inputs, outputs, and reporting.
  • Deliver monthly and ad hoc commercially focused performance reporting to the leadership team, accompanied by insightful commentary and recommendations.
  • Support valuation of prospective asset development, contracts, and trading strategies to enhance decision-making and maximize profitability, identifying potential risks and identifying opportunities
  • Assist the Business Development Manager in creating strategic plans for innovative products and services for wholesale customers, pinpointing opportunities to bolster market attractiveness.

Ideally, you’ll bring to the role:

  • Tertiary qualification in Business, Economics, Commerce, Statistics, Mathematics, or other quantitative discipline.
  • Demonstrated extensive track record in financial analysis, forecasting, and strategic planning within the Australian energy markets.
  • Skilled in SQL, Excel, and analytics software (such as R, Python, SAS, PLEXOS, or other price forecasting tools).
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to deliver outcomes through cross functional collaboration.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools, particularly PowerBI.
