Alinta Energy is one of Australia’s biggest energy retailers, generators and developers with over 1.1 million customers. Australia’s energy system is undergoing the biggest transformation in its history and we’re right there with it. We’re investing in and developing large-scale renewables and storage projects as part of our ongoing effort to provide our customers with reliable, affordable and sustainable energy.

About the role

As a Customer Service Representative, you’ll be the first point of contact for our customers—handling calls, resolving enquiries, and delivering an empathetic, efficient experience. Your role is key to building trust, supporting vulnerable customers, and ensuring positive, lasting outcomes. You’ll aim for first-call resolution while showcasing the value of our brand and services in every interaction.

This full-time, permanent role starts on Monday 11 August, so please ensure you're available from that date.

Training is delivered in the office, Mondays to Fridays, from 8:30am to 4:30pm. Once training is complete, you’ll transition to a rotating roster between 8am and 6pm on weekdays, with occasional Saturday shifts from 8am to 12pm. After training, you’ll also have the flexibility to work from home part of the week, so it’s important to have a quiet, dedicated workspace at home.

Why you’ll love working here

We’re a welcoming bunch who put our energy into being the best company we can be. For us, this means shared respect, great communication between teams, acting on our ideas, and looking out for each other’s wellbeing. There are plenty of great perks, from flexible working to a long list of exclusive Alinta benefits.

What you’ll do

  • Deliver exceptional customer service by resolving enquiries on the first call and exceeding key performance metrics.
  • Engage in quality conversations that reflect our customer experience principles and support vulnerable customers with empathy and care.
  • Take ownership of customer queries, identify repeat call drivers, and ensure compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
  • Handle challenging conversations with professionalism, referring customers to appropriate support channels when needed.
  • Participate in training and upskilling sessions to stay aligned with evolving business needs.
  • Foster positive relationships with stakeholders to drive meaningful customer outcomes.

Your experience

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Confident using computers and able to manage multiple tasks while assisting customers over the phone.
  • Collaborative team player with a proactive approach to self-development.
  • Customer service and contact centre experience is preferred but not essential.

Please note this role requires full working rights within Australia.

If you’re a great communicator who enjoys helping customers and working with others, this role could be a great fit for you.
