Alinta Energy is one of Australia’s biggest energy retailers, generators and developers with over 1.1 million customers. Australia’s energy system is undergoing the biggest transformation in its history and we’re right there with it. We’re investing in and developing large-scale renewables and storage projects as part of our ongoing effort to provide our customers with reliable, affordable and sustainable energy.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and collaborative Senior UX Designer to join our growing Customer Technology team. This role is pivotal in leading user research and experience design activities across various initiatives, including retail self-service channels, retail-assisted channels, our mobile app, and power generation projects. Your work will ensure that our digital assets deliver significant value for both the business and our customers.

Why you’ll love working here

We’re a welcoming bunch who put our energy into being the best company we can be. For us, this means shared respect, great communication between teams, acting on our ideas, and looking out for each other’s wellbeing. There are plenty of great perks, from flexible working to a long list of exclusive Alinta benefits.

What you’ll do

  • Solve business problems by articulating your vision through user flows, customer journeys, design concepts, prototypes and other design artefacts. Apply human-centred design to ensure these ideas are effectively brought to life and validated through customer research
  • Collaborate within cross-functional squads of designers, product owners, and software developers to design, iterate and deliver high-quality product features on time and as promised
  • Design, organise and conduct mixed methods research to uncover user needs, bringing stakeholders and team members on the journey to ensure shared ownership and actionable insights
  • Distil the complexities of business goals, customer needs and technology constraints into concise problem statements and/or visual artefacts, helping to align teams and drive us forward
  • Work closely with other designers to ensure a seamless customer experience across channels, and contribute to the ongoing development of our interaction design principles and digital design system.

Your experience

  • Demonstrated experience solving business problems using human-centred design, including via the use of mixed methods research, co-design workshops, journey mapping and/or service blueprinting
  • A dynamic, open-minded approach to working with diverse stakeholders, giving and responding to feedback, and working autonomously in complex project environments
  • Experience doing product design in agile UX environments, efficiently producing prototypes and artefacts at various stages of product development while responding dynamically to shifting priorities
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and project management skills, with experience facilitating workshops using visual collaboration boards
  • Proficiency with Figma is preferred

This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of our customer interactions, ensuring that every touchpoint reflects our commitment to innovation and sustainability.
