About the role

Alinta Energy is seeking a dynamic Governance Advisor with privacy and data governance experience to play a critical role in ensuring the administration and compliance with privacy laws and our FIRB Conditions. This role is a key interface between the business and the governance function and is responsible for assisting the drive towards a culture of excellence in governance.

Reporting to the Senior Governance Advisor, the Governance Advisor will provide administrative support and legal advice and insight into all things privacy and FIRB related, while also enhancing processes and systems to ensure Alinta Energy is in the best position to address the increasing obligations in this exciting space.

What you’ll do

  • Provide expert legal and risk advice on privacy compliance, data management and FIRB Conditions
  • Identify risks to mitigate legal and compliance challenges 
  • Support data governance tasks/projects and strengthen Alinta Energy’s information security and compliance initiatives 
  • Advise and support the business on governance matters, policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and manage governance registers, governance frameworks and the governance gate of the contract management process.
  • Provide administrative support to the Information Governance Committee  
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to drive continuous improvement in governance practices.

Your experience

  • 3+ PQE legal experience (in-house or private practice) ideally with expertise in privacy, data governance, or IT-related compliance
  • Strong understanding of Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), and governance best practices 
  • Proven ability to interpret and apply privacy laws and risk management frameworks in a corporate setting 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a strategic mindset.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

This role is best suited to a proactive individual who has experience working within a complex and deadline driven environment.
