Australia’s energy system is undergoing the biggest transformation in its history and we’re right there with it. We understand that flexibility matters when considering your next role. Let us know your requirements, and we’ll carefully consider how we might accommodate them.

Ready to make a real impact?

Join our Group Reporting team during a significant period of change. This 12-month role will support increased reporting requirements following a change in ownership, including group consolidation, acquisition accounting, financial statements and technical accounting matters. You’ll also help adapt reporting systems and processes to meet evolving group requirements.

Why you’ll love working here

At Alinta Energy, we’re taking real action to deliver reliable and sustainable energy for Australia, and that practical approach runs through everything we do. You’ll get clear direction, genuine flexibility and the support you need to grow, all while working on projects that make a lasting difference. We’re big enough to create impact, but small enough that your ideas and effort will always be seen.

There are plenty of other great benefits of working for Alinta Energy, including flexible working, energy discounts, an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), a paid volunteer day each year, fully stocked kitchens and lots more.

What you’ll do

  • Manage group consolidation, financial statement preparation and reporting to owners, alongside reporting for investment holding and financing entities
  • Support acquisition accounting and business combination activities arising from the change in ownership
  • Provide technical accounting advice across business combinations, derivatives and hedge effectiveness, impairment and other complex transactions
  • Prepare accounting position papers and work directly with external auditors and stakeholders across the Finance community
  • Drive improvements to reporting systems, processes and controls, while proactively building the internal relationships needed to move complex work forward

Your experience

  • CA qualification with at least eight years’ commercial experience and a Big 4 or similar background
  • Experience in group reporting, consolidation and the preparation of financial statements in accordance with AASB and IFRS
  • Practical technical accounting experience across business combinations or acquisition accounting, derivatives and hedge effectiveness, and impairment
  • The seniority and technical confidence to work independently, influence senior stakeholders and challenge constructively when required
  • A proactive approach to building relationships and networks quickly across a geographically dispersed organisation, with the ability to drive projects through to an outcome

Please note this role requires full working rights within Australia.

This role can be based in Sydney or Melbourne and will suit an experienced financial reporting professional who is comfortable working with colleagues and stakeholders across multiple locations.
