Alinta Energy is one of Australia’s biggest energy retailers, generators and developers with over 1.1 million customers. Australia’s energy system is undergoing the biggest transformation in its history and we’re right there with it. We’re investing in and developing large-scale renewables and storage projects as part of our ongoing effort to provide our customers with reliable, affordable and sustainable energy.

We understand that flexibility matters when considering your next role. Let us know your requirements, and we’ll carefully consider how we might accommodate them.

Ready to make a real impact?

Join Alinta Energy’s dynamic Power Development team as an Investment & Development Analyst, where you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Australia’s energy landscape. With an extensive pipeline of power generation projects—including renewables, storage, and gas—this role is at the heart of evaluating and progressing major capital investments and strategic business opportunities. You’ll provide critical analytical support, helping to drive commercial and financial appraisals that underpin key decisions for the business.

As part of a collaborative and high-performing team, you’ll work closely with senior stakeholders and cross-functional groups to deliver robust financial models, market analysis, and funding strategies. This is an opportunity to develop your expertise in project finance, gain exposure to high-impact projects, and contribute to the growth and transformation of the energy sector.

Why you’ll love working here

At Alinta Energy, we’re taking real action to deliver reliable and sustainable energy for Australia — and that practical approach runs through everything we do. You’ll get clear direction, genuine flexibility, and the support you need to grow, all while working on projects that make a lasting difference. We’re big enough to create impact, but small enough that your ideas and effort will always be seen.

There are plenty of other great benefits of working for Alinta Energy, including flexible working, energy discounts, an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), a paid volunteer day each year, fully stocked kitchens, and lots more.

What you'll do

Build and enhance sophisticated financial models to evaluate the viability of major capital projects, including renewables, storage, and gas power generation.

  • Support due diligence and provide commercial, financial, and funding input into project evaluations, M&A transactions, and strategic initiatives.
  • Conduct scenario analysis, market research, and risk assessments to inform investment decisions and project funding strategies.
  • Prepare and present high-quality reports and presentations to assist business leaders in making informed investment decisions.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Treasury, senior management, and cross-functional project teams.

Your experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in business, finance, or a related discipline.
  • 3–4 years’ relevant experience, ideally from investment banking, a Big 4 accounting firm, or a corporate finance setting within an ASX-listed company.
  • Proven expertise in building and utilising advanced financial models for corporate transactions or project financing.
  • Advanced user of MS Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to prepare professional written and graphical presentations.
  • Strong analytical, commercial, and communication skills, with a genuine interest in the energy and infrastructure industry (industry experience is desirable but not essential).

Please note this role requires full working rights within Australia.
