Australia’s energy system is undergoing the biggest transformation in its history and we’re right there with it. We’re investing in and developing large-scale renewables and storage projects as part of our ongoing effort to provide our customers with reliable, affordable and sustainable energy.

About the role

Join our Wagerup Power Station team as an Operations & Maintenance Technician (Electrical) and play a key role in supporting our two GT13E2 gas turbines and 100 MW / 213 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The station is located near Waroona, around 90 minutes south of Perth, and the role works a 4 day week on site. Working as part of a collaborative team, you'll operate, maintain and troubleshoot critical plant equipment to help deliver safe, reliable energy while gaining exposure to technologies shaping Australia's energy future.

Why you’ll love working here

At Alinta Energy, we’re taking real action to deliver reliable and sustainable energy for Australia - and that practical approach runs through everything we do. You’ll get clear direction, genuine flexibility, and the support you need to grow, all while working on projects that make a lasting difference. We’re big enough to create impact, but small enough that your ideas and effort will always be seen.

What you'll do

  • Operate, maintain and troubleshoot gas turbine generating units, electrical systems and BESS assets to maximise plant reliability and performance.
  • Perform fault finding and maintenance activities across electrical, instrumentation, control and plant systems.
  • Support the operation and optimisation of battery storage technologies and associated control systems.
  • Participate in planned and unplanned maintenance activities, outages, HV switching and emergency response activities.
  • Participate in an on-call roster, providing support for plant operations and responding to site events when required.

Your experience

  • Certificate III in Electrotechnology (Electrician) or equivalent, with a current WA Electrician's Licence.
  • Experience within power generation, renewables, mining, heavy industrial or process plant environments.
  • Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting capability across electrical, instrumentation, PLC, SCADA or control systems.
  • Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment and participate in an on-call roster.
  • A strong commitment to safety, continuous improvement and delivering reliable operational outcomes.

Highly regarded: Experience with BESS technologies, HV switching, gas turbines, industrial rotating equipment, CMMS platforms such as Ellipse, or dual Electrical and Instrumentation qualifications.

Please note this role requires full working rights within Australia.
