  • Attractive hybrid work model | Energy Discounts | Career Growth Opportunities

Alinta Energy is one of Australia’s biggest energy retailers, generators and developers with over 1.1 million customers. Australia’s energy system is undergoing the biggest transformation in its history and we’re right there with it. We’re investing in and developing large-scale renewables and storage projects as part of our ongoing effort to provide our customers with reliable, affordable and sustainable energy.

We understand that flexibility matters when considering your next role. Let us know your requirements, and we’ll carefully consider how we might accommodate them.

Ready to make a real impact?

As a Planning & Environment Advisor, you’ll support Alinta Energy’s Power Development team by helping deliver planning and environmental approvals across a diverse portfolio of energy projects, including wind, batteries and broader infrastructure. Working closely with the Planning & Environment Manager, you’ll assist in executing approval strategies from early feasibility through to delivery, balancing long‑term assessments with fast‑moving priorities. This is a hands‑on, client‑side role that offers exposure to the full development lifecycle, meaningful stakeholder engagement, and the opportunity to see projects progress from concept to reality.

Why you’ll love working here

At Alinta Energy, we’re taking real action to deliver reliable and sustainable energy for Australia — and that practical approach runs through everything we do. You’ll get clear direction, genuine flexibility, and the support you need to grow, all while working on projects that make a lasting difference. We’re big enough to create impact, but small enough that your ideas and effort will always be seen.

There are plenty of other great benefits of working for Alinta Energy, including flexible working, energy discounts, an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), a paid volunteer day each year, fully stocked kitchens, and lots more.

What you'll do

  • Support planning and environmental approval processes across multiple projects, assisting in the execution of approval strategies aligned to project timelines and risk profiles
  • Work with regulators, landowners, First Nations groups, communities and internal stakeholders to support approvals, access and tenure outcomes
  • Coordinate and oversee external consultants, ensuring assessments, reports and approvals stay on track and meet project requirements
  • Contribute to feasibility studies, constraints analysis and risk identification across greenfield and brownfield developments
  • Partner with multidisciplinary teams (engineering, GIS, grid, development and community) to provide practical planning and environmental input throughout the project lifecycle

Your experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Planning, Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability or a related discipline
  • Around 3+ years’ experience in planning and/or environmental approvals, ideally gained in development or consulting environments
  • Exposure to planning approvals, environmental assessments and statutory processes across at least one or two East Coast jurisdictions
  • Experience working with regulators and supporting engagement with landowners, communities or stakeholder groups
  • Strong communication and time‑management skills, with the ability to juggle competing priorities and work collaboratively in a fast‑moving project environment

Please note this role requires full working rights within Australia.
