This role sits within the Corporate Affairs team and leads the execution of Alinta Energy’s government relations strategy across Federal and relevant State Governments. Working with the General Manager, Government Relations, you’ll partner closely with the Executive Leadership Team, business unit leaders and project development teams to shape and advance policy and project outcomes. You’ll also work with project teams to create and implement stakeholder engagement plans aligned to project lifecycles. With a strong focus on securing support for major projects and policy initiatives, you’ll play a critical role in positioning Alinta Energy for long-term growth in a transforming energy market.

What you’ll do

  • Build and maintain relationships with Ministers, advisers and key stakeholders
  • Lead government engagement strategies across project and policy lifecycles
  • Support senior leaders with advice, briefings and messaging for government interactions and stakeholder engagement
  • Track policy and regulatory developments and provide strategic insights
  • Manage politically sensitive issues and mitigate reputational risks

Your experience

  • Extensive experience across Federal and State politics
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building capability
  • Ability to influence and navigate complex political environments
  • Highly developed communication, briefing and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to simplify complex issues
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and independently
  • Experience in ministerial offices, energy, infrastructure or regulated industries (desirable)
