- Hybrid role – Adelaide CBD and site-based
- Lead a HSE Coordinator and influence a multi-contractor environment
About Alinta Energy
Alinta Energy is one of Australia’s biggest energy retailers, generators and developers with over 1.1 million customers. Australia’s energy system is undergoing the biggest transformation in its history and we’re right there with it. We’re investing in and developing large-scale renewables and storage projects as part of our ongoing effort to provide our customers with reliable, affordable and sustainable energy.
About the role
We’re seeking an experienced HSE Lead to join our team supporting the Reeves Plains Energy Hub, a large-scale battery energy storage project located north of Adelaide.
This is a key leadership role, responsible for setting the standard for HSE delivery on a project that is entering the early stages of construction. It’s an opportunity to shape how safety is embedded from day one.
You will lead a small team (including a HSE Coordinator) while also acting as the critical interface between site, contractors and project leadership. Success in this role comes from your ability to influence, communicate clearly, and translate corporate HSE frameworks into practical, workable site outcomes.
The role is hybrid in nature, combining time in our Adelaide CBD office with regular presence on site. Visibility on site is essential to building trust, driving performance and supporting delivery.
What you'll do
- Lead HSE delivery across the Reeves Plains project, ensuring standards are applied in practice, not just documented
- Provide leadership and guidance to a direct report (HSE Coordinator) while supporting broader site teams
- Act as the key interface between project leadership and site teams, managing expectations both ways
- Translate corporate HSE frameworks into practical, site-ready systems and processes
- Build strong relationships with contractors, influencing behaviours and driving accountability
- Oversee audits, inspections and risk management activities aligned to legislative and project requirements
- Lead incident investigations, ensuring robust root cause analysis and effective corrective actions
- Support training, coaching and capability uplift across site teams
Your experience
- Degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent practical experience)
- 5+ years’ experience in HSE roles within construction, infrastructure, renewables or operational plant environments
- Demonstrated leadership experience within an HSE or site‑based role, influencing teams and driving accountability
- Strong site credibility with the confidence to challenge unsafe practices
- Proven ability to manage up and down and communicate expectations clearly
- Experience translating HSE policies into practical, site‑implementable solutions
Please note this role requires full working rights within Australia.
Why join Alinta Energy
- Be part of a major renewable energy project from early construction, with the ability to shape outcomes from the ground up
- Hybrid working model – balance between office and site
- Clear leadership responsibility, including developing and supporting a HSE Coordinator
- Competitive remuneration including bonus and fully maintained tool-of-trade vehicle
- Join a business with a strong pipeline of projects, offering continuity beyond this role
- Work in a supportive culture that values practical, fair and effective safety leadership
