As a Junior Analyst, Settlements you will support the accurate & timely capture of Electricity, Gas, Environmental, Treasury, Futures and OTC trades into Alinta’s trading systems; making sure that the transactions are reconciled and recorded in Alinta’s general ledger and settled.  You will also work closely with other business areas within Alinta and third parties (counterparties and brokers).

What you’ll do

  • Trade data & Contract review – confirming trade details with third parties and reviewing and interpreting new contracts with a focus on understanding settlement deliverables and timing
  • Invoicing & Settlement of trades - preparing receivable invoices for counterparties for processing in the general ledger and ensuring settlement deliverables are paid/received as per the contracted terms via Alinta’s systems (including Austraclear, ANZ, GTreasury, BNP, etc)
  • Accruals & Journals - preparation of monthly accruals for open trades, premium amortisation, intercompany transactions, brokerage, commissions, interest etc as well as general reconciliations and other month-end reporting
  • Liaising with Alinta teams (Trading, Accounting, Risk, IT), counterparties, clearing broker and trading system vendor for testing system upgrades
  • Responding to internal and external audit enquiries

Your experience

  • A relevant degree in commerce, economics, mathematics, data science or another relevant numeric discipline
  • Experience in a similar settlement’s role and/or accounting or finance related field
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent communication and numeric skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment and effectively prioritise workload
  • Hands-on experience in MS Office, SQL, Excel or other analytics tools
  • Passion for data and analytics!
