Join our Retail Insights team and help transform complex data into trusted products that guide business decisions. You’ll model data in Databricks, modernise reporting and work directly with stakeholders, with support to build capability across predictive analytics, customer personalisation and emerging technology.
Why you’ll love working here
At Alinta Energy, we’re taking real action to deliver reliable and sustainable energy for Australia — and that practical approach runs through everything we do. You’ll get clear direction, genuine flexibility, and the support you need to grow, all while working on projects that make a lasting difference. We’re big enough to create impact, but small enough that your ideas and effort will always be seen.
There are plenty of other great benefits of working for Alinta Energy, including flexible working, energy discounts, an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), a paid volunteer day each year, fully stocked kitchens, and lots more.
What you’ll do
- Meeting with business stakeholders to understand data needs and translate requirements into user stories and technical specifications
- Modelling complex retail data in Databricks using SQL to create data marts, warehouse structures and reusable data assets
- Building and contributing to data pipelines, prototype reports and Power BI dashboards that support strategy and decision-making
- Testing and validating data products, including your own code and work delivered by Data Engineers, to ensure quality and consistency
- Supporting the migration of legacy reporting while managing risks, change activities and regular stakeholder updates.
Your experience
- Practical experience in data and analytics, supported by a relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent capability
- Solid SQL skills and experience designing data models, BI solutions or reporting products
- Understanding of data warehousing concepts such as star schemas, CDC and SCD
- Experience engaging stakeholders, clarifying requirements and communicating technical information clearly
- Exposure to Databricks, dbt, Spark, Python, R, Power BI or Agile delivery is advantageous, but not essential.
Please note this role requires full working rights within Australia.
This role is well suited to an Analytics Engineer or data professional with strong SQL foundations who is ready to broaden their experience across modern data platforms, stakeholder engagement and strategic analytics.
