Alinta Energy is one of Australia’s biggest energy retailers, generators and developers with over 1.1 million customers. Australia’s energy system is undergoing the biggest transformation in its history and we’re right there with it. We’re investing in and developing large-scale renewables and storage projects as part of our ongoing effort to provide our customers with reliable, affordable and sustainable energy.

We understand that flexibility matters when considering your next role. Let us know your requirements, and we’ll carefully consider how we might accommodate them.

Ready to make a real impact?

The Compliance Specialist is a hands‑on technical role within Alinta Energy’s Regulatory Affairs and Compliance function, supporting the Merchant Energy business with a focus on power generation and development activities. Reporting to the Compliance Manager, the role contributes directly to operational compliance delivery by providing specialist advice, coordinating regulatory and environmental reporting, and supporting the effective management of generation licences and associated obligations.

The role works closely with plant managers and operational teams to translate legislative and regulatory requirements into practical, workable actions while maintaining strong audit readiness and reporting discipline. Based in either Perth or Melbourne, it is well suited to someone who enjoys analytical work, detail and accountability, and who is comfortable navigating evolving requirements and technical subject matter in a highly regulated environment.

Why you’ll love working here

At Alinta Energy, we’re taking real action to deliver reliable and sustainable energy for Australia — and that practical approach runs through everything we do. You’ll get clear direction, genuine flexibility, and the support you need to grow, all while working on projects that make a lasting difference. We’re big enough to create impact, but small enough that your ideas and effort will always be seen.

There are plenty of other great benefits of working for Alinta Energy, including flexible working, energy discounts, an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), a paid volunteer day each year, fully stocked kitchens, and lots more.

What you'll do

  • Provide technical compliance advice and support on licences, permits, registrations and regulatory obligations relevant to power generation
  • Coordinate and support end‑to‑end management of generation licences, including applications, renewals, reporting and obligation tracking
  • Monitor regulatory and industry developments, assess impacts and support practical implementation across the business
  • Support compliance monitoring, reporting, audits and investigations, including maintaining obligation registers and evidence
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of compliance systems, processes and culture, working collaboratively with operational teams

Your experience

  • 3–5 years’ experience in compliance, regulatory, risk or governance roles, ideally within a regulated industry
  • Strong ability to interpret legislation and translate obligations into clear, practical requirements for the business
  • Experience supporting regulatory reporting, audits or assurance activities
  • High attention to detail, with confidence managing compliance documentation and multiple deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to engage effectively with operational and corporate stakeholders

Please note this role requires full working rights within Australia.
