Braemar Power Station is a 560MW open-cycle gas turbine plant, strategically positioned to support Queensland's energy needs with dedicated pipeline and compression facilities for efficient, reliable production.
About the role
Join our Operations & Maintenance team as a Control Systems Specialist.
This role combines hands-on power station operations and maintenance with a specialist focus on control systems and instrumentation. You’ll provide technical expertise across plant control systems, fault-finding and automation while contributing to the shared operational responsibilities of the broader team.
You’ll also support planned and unplanned maintenance, control system improvements and reliability initiatives that help maximise the availability and performance of Braemar Power Station.

What you'll do
- Support the safe operation and maintenance of Braemar Power Station
- Maintain, troubleshoot and improve PLC, DCS, SCADA and automation systems
- Investigate plant issues and perform fault-finding across complex equipment and systems
- Support planned maintenance, outages and reliability improvement initiatives
- Isolate plant and equipment, issue Permits to Work and maintain technical records
- Contribute to plant upgrades, automation projects and continuous improvement activities
Your experience
- Demonstrated experience in control systems, instrumentation or industrial automation
- Experience with PLC, DCS, SCADA or related control system platforms
- Technical background in Electrical, Instrumentation, Control Systems or Engineering
- Strong fault-finding and technical problem-solving capability
- Experience working in power generation, oil & gas, mining, utilities or heavy industry
- Commitment to safety, reliability and continuous improvement
Highly regarded
- Experience with ABB, Siemens, Allen-Bradley, GE Fanuc or similar control platforms
- Gas turbine, power generation or rotating equipment experience
- HV, CMMS, hazardous area or Type B Gas experience
The working arrangement
- 4-day work week (37.5-hour week)
- Typical hours of either 6:00am to 4:00pm or 8:00am to 6:00pm
- Participation in the site's on-call roster
- Based at Braemar Power Station near Dalby, Queensland
