Alinta Energy is one of Australia’s biggest energy retailers, generators and developers with over 1.1 million customers. Australia’s energy system is undergoing the biggest transformation in its history and we’re right there with it. We’re investing in and developing large-scale renewables and storage projects as part of our ongoing effort to provide our customers with reliable, affordable and sustainable energy.

We understand that flexibility matters when considering your next role. Let us know your requirements, and we’ll carefully consider how we might accommodate them.

Ready to make a real impact?

Alinta Energy is expanding its development pipeline across Australia and strengthening its partnerships with communities as we deliver the energy transition. Based in Perth, this 16‑month parental leave contract involves regular travel to regional and rural communities across Western Australia. As a Stakeholder Engagement Specialist, you’ll play a critical role in securing and maintaining the social licence for major energy projects, leading engagement from early development through approvals and into construction. You’ll be embedded in project teams, owning community and stakeholder engagement that is transparent, respectful, and aligned to best practice.

Why you’ll love working here

At Alinta Energy, we’re taking real action to deliver reliable and sustainable energy for Australia — and that practical approach runs through everything we do. You’ll get clear direction, genuine flexibility, and the support you need to grow, all while working on projects that make a lasting difference. We’re big enough to create impact, but small enough that your ideas and effort will always be seen.

There are plenty of other great benefits of working for Alinta Energy, including flexible working, energy discounts, an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), a paid volunteer day each year, fully stocked kitchens, and lots more.

What you'll do

  • Lead and deliver stakeholder and community engagement strategies for major energy projects across Western Australia
  • Build trusted relationships with landowners, local councils, community groups and First Nations communities, often on‑the‑ground in regional locations
  • Support land access processes in collaboration with our Land Management Specialist, Planning and Approvals, Environment and Communications teams
  • Plan and deliver engagement and consultation activities, manage stakeholder insights, maintain engagement records, and represent Alinta Energy at community and stakeholder forums
  • Identify, assess and manage social and engagement risks, execute our complaints handling process and contribute to project governance, budgets, schedules and benefit‑sharing initiatives

Your experience

  • 5+ years’ experience in stakeholder or community engagement, social performance or related roles (energy, infrastructure, mining, government or consulting)
  • Demonstrated experience leading engagement for major projects, including supporting planning and approval processes
  • Proven ability to engage effectively with landowners, councils and/or First Nations communities, including navigating complex or contested issues
  • Comfortable working independently as a subject‑matter expert, with strong facilitation, communication and relationship‑building skills
  • Relevant qualifications in engagement or social performance (IAP2 Certificate of Engagement highly regarded; Advanced IAP2 desirable)

Please note this role requires full working rights within Australia.
